Frame Drum and Tar: Differences Between

A frame drum is defined as a drum that has a shell depth smaller than the diameter of the drumhead.

Throughout the world there are many names used for Frame drums.

The TAR is found in Middle East and North Africa as well as other regions in the area, each with a unique name.

Remo’s Tar is a Frame drum design with a wide depth shell and natural Skyndeep drumhead. Remo utilizes the generic nomenclature of Frame drum for similar instruments in our product line.
